Agile Post It Board
On the page board paper or whiteboard create three columns with the headings what we did well what we can do better and actions.
Agile post it board. Begin your agile scrum by finding a wall that is accessible to all group members and add a post it meeting chart. Kanban boards use cards columns and continuous improvement to help technology and service teams commit to the right amount of work and get it done. And if possible get a neutral third party to help facilitate the meeting. I suggest only making one sticky per person readily available.
In the long term projects over use of post its leads to what i am terming as post it noise. Too many post it notes. That is while there is value in the items on the right we value the items on the left more. On the back of the board there were some more traditional activities going on collecting suggestions on post it notes as well as quadrant mapping feelings about various neighbourhood facilities.
The basic board should look something like this. Large scale and long term agile projects. A kanban board is an agile project management tool designed to help visualize work limit work in progress and maximize efficiency or flow. However as projects teams and agile practices themselves grow ever larger the constraints provided in the methods become too simple.
The wall not only gets cluttered but people will stop updating the walls. The passion for post it notes and sharpies that agile purists operate with is enough make you think the founding members owned shares in 3m the company that owns post it notes. There are a few who have reported stress due to the cluttering of wall due to unplanned growth of post its on the wall. Agile project methods are a great way to improve your project visualization they provide the basic rules of the board setup task organization and separation as well as a general sense of what is going on.
Story to do in process to verify and done. Place the photo stickies on the edge of the board to indicate team members available for tasks. Make your meetings brainstorms and projects better. Place each of the headers in the order mentioned in a row at the top of your wall.
If you have photos for each team member attach them to small sticky notes or put post it glue on the back. It was a great reminder of how the physical and interactive can engage and delight and of the importance of making it easy to interact with. Scenarios when we started to work on the re launch of our website for instance i wrote the following scenario. In this post i explain what scenarios and storyboards are how they can be used effectively in an agile context and how they relate to user stories.
Create individual headers for each of the following.
